Retrofitting an Amiga 1200 with cool stuff

*** This post is for geeks only. If you're not a geek, you'll think "What the hell??" ***

Some of you older readers will remember the Amiga (and my current Avatar) from the early 1990s.
The Plan: I'm gonna resurrect my Amiga 1200 (last manufactured in 1996) with some new technology from this century.
Reason: I always wanted a good Amiga and I wanna play on some of my old games again.

How:
I'm gonna replace the aging internal hard drive with something from this century. A 2.5 inch IDE Flash Drive with 1 GB of storage from a company in Taiwan ought to do the trick. ;-) Apart from the DS-DD Floppy drive, the machine will have no moving parts.

The next plan is to find some EDO RAM from some discarded PCs (of 1997 - 2000 vintage) and upgrade to some huge amount of FAST RAM which will be unheard of a decade ago. Perhaps 32mb?

Stuff I wanna run:
Alien Breed 92
Turrican II
Deluxe Paint 4 (I was never very good at painting)
Great Giana Sisters (They can kick Mario's ass any day)
James Pond 2
Elite

Anyone got any suggestions / contributions / condemnations?

It's been several years since their high school graduation, and a few long-time friends are starting to talk about marriage. While each of them has their own love dilemmas, Shizuka is the only one who has no interest in a relationship. The others are concerned about her quiet ways and unrecognized beauty. Her best friend Maki finally registers her in a dating service called "The Wedding Club" and Shizuka reluctantly agrees to meet her match. But when the man she meets is not exactly her type, Shizuka wonders if her red string of fate has already been cut.

Five beautiful young women are all sisters, each a year apart. After Mami, the youngest sister, gets engaged, Kiyomi is the only single girl left. She's not interested in a relationship, but when her co-worker asks her on a date, the four sisters intervene. They talk Mikimaro into proposing to Kiyomi, but her cool attitude proves to be quite daunting. Will Mikimaro finally build up enough courage to pop the big question?

indifference is great!

Words / phrases I've associated with being indifferent:
1. Am I bothered?
2. Whatever! - (Works well in an American / Canadian accent)
3. Yup!
4. You reckon? - (Works well in Canadian accent)
5. I'm not really bothered.

Examples of indifference
1. People eating crisps in my car. -It's an old car anyway!
2. A friend canceling on me this morning. -I'm staying in bed.
3. A friend canceling on me just now. -I can sort out my Magic Cards.
4.
Wii + Space 1999

There's something which I had almost forgot about until Tom & I stumbled upon it in conversation.
Started in the late 70s (That's the 1970s), it's called "Space 1999".
....

Andy, Andrew, Jason, Kevin and I met at Tom's for pizza and some Wii games. Was pretty much crap at most of the games except Golf. Pizza was funny. We ordered 6 pizzas at the special offer price of £5 each, yet the shop charged as £30.01 in total.

....
We finally got the chance to watch '1999 in glorious colour on Tom's mechanical analogue recording device.
Storing video and sound on a linear magnetic tape? - Pure genius!
Alas, must not mock the technology for the special effects were worse than real life.

Basically, Space 1999 is a sci-fi set in the said year in which the Earth loses the Moon due to nuclear waste dumps exploding. The force pushes the Moon into deep space thus creating a plot device for the inhabitants of the moon base to tell some kind of a story.
Shaky physics and cold war metaphors abound.

'Tis great sci-fi for the day!
